A note from me
I’m Cara, the designer behind Interior Counsel. I believe colour has the power to shape how we feel, behave and connect within a space.
After two decades working across design and construction, I developed a deep fascination with colour, its psychology, its emotional impact and the way it influences how we experience a space.
My experience has taken me from full interior design projects to sourcing and restoring mid-century furniture, but colour has always been the thread running through it. Through my colour consultancy, I now focus on helping people create spaces that feel connected, considered, and full of quiet confidence.

The Process
A simple, considered way of working together, designed to give you clarity and confidence.
WE START WITH YOU
It begins with a quick call or email to understand your space, what you'd like to achieve and where you might be feeling stuck.
Before we meet, I'll ask you to share images, plans and anything that inspires you from places you love, to pieces you already own.
We explore together
Whether we meet in your space or virtually, we'll explore how you want it to feel and function, and the colours you are naturally drawn to.
It's a collaborative process, guided by experience and instinct rather than rigid rules. With no brand ties, focus stays on what's right for you and your space.
You leave with clarity
After our session, I'll bring everything together into a personalised Colour Plan, with clear recommendations for colours, finishes and placement.
You'll have a considered scheme and the practical guidance you need to put it into action.

A focused session for when you need a fresh perspective, help making a decision or simply want to talk through your ideas. Perhaps you're stuck between two colours, unsure where to start, or something in the room just isn't quite working. We'll use the time wherever it's most useful to you.

For when you're ready to create a complete colour scheme rather than solve a single question. We'll look at your spaces together, considering light, existing materials and furnishings, how the rooms connect and, importantly, how you want them to feel. From there, I'll develop a considered palette with clear guidance on what goes where.

For larger projects where colour needs to work cohesively across several rooms or throughout your spaces. We'll begin with a virtual conversation to understand the scope of your project before spending more time together in your space. I'll consider the relationship between rooms as a whole, developing a connected palette while allowing individual spaces to have their own character.
